Start a lifetime habit of dancing with your new partner
Start early
The sooner you start the better. Have enough time to learn the routine and actually dance it. How much time depends on you. The best bet is to start way earlier than you need. Then you can maintain your progress if need be, but you can't rush it. Everyone has a different learning curve. Some of our instructors have a quarter of a century of experience- we've got your hand.
Be positive and patient with your partner
One day you might pick up well and then struggle the next with a different move. That is normal and expected. Most importantly, learning has to be done in a positive environment. Rest assured that worry and frustration will be alleviated with expert knowledge and patient instruction. There is no need to feel worried or anxious about progress. Progress is our job.
What you need before you can start
All you need to do is propose first. Actually, you don't even need to do that. Dance lesson will certainly ensure she says yes! We can help you find everything from your shoes to a song for the dance. All you need to start is a good attitude and the courage to walk through the door. We can help you incorporate any creative ideas your heart might desire- just ask!
private lessons with a professional dance teacher
shoes that stay on your feet
comfortable clothing
professionally supervised practice and repetition
There's few other things you could use, but this is a good start. Your teacher will guide you once you come in. Here's a link to private lessons and how they work in general.
Invite the wedding party to take lessons
This is a great tip that many couples fail to notice. Inviting the wedding party to dance can be a great way to get the party started long before the big day even comes. Whether it be group line dances or a flash mob, we have seen it all. Don't forget about the Parent/Child dances either. Those go much more smoothly with some lessons under the belt
